Top Story:
We Resolve to . . .
It’s that time of year again.
New Year’s Day 2010 is nearly
here and with it many have made
resolutions, basically plans or
goals, to improve our lives —
dropping a few extra pounds, trying
to stay positive, being a better
person, etc.
Resolutions defined
A New Year’s resolution is a
commitment an individual makes
to a project or the reforming of
a habit, often a lifestyle change
generally interpreted as advantageous.
Popular choices
The most popular goals set by
residents in the United States, according
to www.resolutionsnewyear.com and
usa.gov include: spending
more time with family and
friends, trying to lose weight,
getting out of debt, becoming
more organized, maintaining a
diary, saving money, improving
grades at school, and getting a
better job.
Other popular choices are getting
fit, eating right, getting a better
education, drinking less alcohol,
quitting smoking, reducing
stress, taking a trip, volunteering
to help others, being less grumpy,
being more independent, learning
something new (such as a foreign
language or music), trying to get
up early in the morning, improving
time management and helping
the poor.
